It all blends

The more I search the more I realize they all blend does it even matter?

Olympic pony tail in semi gloss is nice

Stoning ton by Olympic is nice too

I think I am going with pony tail and calling it finished! I like the name, it is similar but not exact to what colors I used elsewear and easy to look at. Now onto the laundry door paint ugh!

Gray with grey too grey?

Perhaps all that grey is too grey.

I found some color charts and realized there are other fantastic options especially when I examined the LVT and sa the yellow orange undertones that are woven in the grey tile.

I found this awesome color wheel at the Interior Holic. We have a grey 4 tile with white and 1 yellow/orange hints throughout making it a lovely earth tone tile.

That is a close up of the yellow orange tones. So I then cross referenced Pinterest with this color block chart.

I see the natural progression of using pea greens, oranges, and yellows.

I just wasn't sold on those colors or color families. Digging for more inspiration I came across these combo grey blue inspiration rooms

Our grey tile is much darker with more tones but this is a really nice calming blue. Check out all the designs at This Old House.

Side by side a teal or Aqua and a darker traditional blue. I feel as if the first is fun but again their tiles are much lighter.(Source) The second is too masculine for me. (Source)

So here are some families that the color chart would like together. Sherwin Williams Linwood sands and naturelle

The Almeria is a nice beige brown with green orange undertones see side by side.
I can't say I am in love as we have beige and brown walls already in other parts of the house.
Mountain top is a nice change but I feel as if it clashes somehow.

Bungalow beige is lovely but it maybe dark in that room.

Simply beige looks nice and light. I am sure it is almost the same as what I have in the living room though.

In my hallways we did oyster shell by Olympic and it looks great!
But in the laundry it would be too dark.
Back to the drawing board.

Laundry room what grey should I go?

I never really look at people's laundry rooms but, if you spend enough time on Pinterest you suddenly want to redo yours. We need to paint and tile as it is a thirty year old paint job and the vinyl is dis colored and gross. I thought about just doing a coat of white but, I know it will be well gross in a matter of weeks. Grey is the flavor I love so I have poured through color palettes from lowes and Home Depot. Olympic, Sherwin Williams, and Valspar looking for just the right color not too dark and not too light. I feel like Goldie Locks. Here are all the options.

Monochrome is a very likely contestant by Sherwin Williams

Essential shade also Sherwin Williams  looks more true grey without the green undertones.

Heaven sent is nice but Nor'easter is way too dark for sure!

Sherwin Williams has a great collection of neutrals.
Ethereal mood is nice but has many brown undertones and escape grey is almost green.

Like this Sherwin Williams winters wet grey but I fear it is almost white.

Essential grey next to tile.

Monochrome next to tile.

Heaven sent and nor'easter next to tile...

Metric grey

Olympic grey frost
I am so confused perhaps I should see what a nice tranquil shade on the color wheel is to compliment grey, brown and cream tiles.

Shades of grey

am not a fan of the aforementioned book or movie but, I love grey. It can be bright and light or bad and dark. I am getting ready to redo the floors in our 1980's abode. The laundry I am set on doing Groutable Vinyl tile as it is 88 cents a tile and you can cut it with a box cutter or sharp scissors. I have grouted a kitchen backsplash approx. 16 years ago yikes in my starter home. I have been doing research since LVT or Luxury Vinyl Tile is newer technology. The pieces I am using are from Armstrong a company that is sold at the most common stores in my area Lowes and Home Depot. We are doing LVT grout as well and I am estimating with paint, tile, and grout my small laundry redo will be under $200.

There is no place like HOME!

THERE is NO place like HOME; I can't wait to think that after all these renovations are over!

We live in Apex whose motto is the Peak of Good Living. Never mind that Apex, NC is flat as a pancake the name hails from the Railroad and it named for it's location as the highest point on a portion of the Chatham Railway.

I agree with the motto and it is a beautiful town. It embodies everything a southern town should except...There really aren't any southerners WHAT?! Yep. A few smattered here and there but, I find that it has a multicultural community more than a southern one. My friends are from as far as east as Dubai, and India. I have many more Yankee's as friends,  but it has all the charm of a southern community none the less.

Day four

And then there was PAINT!

I loved this paint chip card from Lowes it is the Valspar One paint and primer on one. I wanted to have easy cleaning so we opted for eggshell hopefully it performs better than flat and doesn't show the imperfections of semi-gloss. I shall find out soon.

I choose the Spiced Vinegar it is a pale buttery color on the walls in fact I think it is lighter on the walls see-

I love it!

Third Day's a Charmer

Carolina Renovation Experts

Day two I awoke with my preschooler cuddled up to me and the banging of hammers it was 7AM. I was excited but, overwhelmed. The contractors were amazing and trying their best to keep the dust contained. Despite even the best effort I am coughing and hacking (Asthmatic).

I adore the team through Carolina Renovation Experts. I was referred by my favorite Roofer, and Siding man Chris Spilman at Spilman Inc. Chris and his wife Becky have three small kids and manage a great business. I absolutely love them, and even though I knew the current renovation was not their cup of tea I called them for a referral and he has never disappointed even by a referral!

The crew has been awesome Doug our foreman has brought style and Vision. Dennis our GC has listen and looked at Pintrest.

Found a quote about Doug and his crew and it is spot on.

Not my home but, wow Bright White Brick LOVE!!
"Doug Pavlic and his crew have done multiple projects at my own home as well as my investment properties and I've never been less than thrilled with the quality of their work and their response time to any questions I had."
-Dana G., Wake Forest, NC
Here are some more before and after's
Also not my home, not my style but, the brick makes the property look expensive.
Love the new Slate as I don't love brick.

Spilman does a Bang up job check out his portfolio of Siding and roof projects online as well.

Testimonial:

Spilman Inc. recently designed and built an addition on our home…that, because of the well thought out planning and design, looked as if it had ALWAYS been there, it’s seamless!! We were amazed at the craftmanship!! Chris, also put on an entire roof and a deck and pergola on a cottage for us, also…just divine!!… We loved our property prior to Spilman’s work, we now love it more than ever!! We rate Spilman Inc. with a 5-star rating. Feel free to call for a reference, we would be more than happy to oblige.—Peter and Nancy Hart, Wake Forest

Love the Hubby hate his house!

When I met my now husband he owned his home. I had just sold my third property and was renting a great apartment 1 block from work. I loved everything about renting, dislike the neighbors move instead of renew. Something breaks call the landlord. Cable was included in the rent, as was water. I was living in a great community and had made tons of friends.

It was a nice year long vacation. When my renewal came up they raised my rent by $150 a month stating I had moved in during a special what? Crazy. I had a few options...move into another nearby apartment with a one year lease, move in with my fun but, silly and often crazy friend who owned her townhome (which was always falling apart). I even considered moving in with my parents ewe, but I knew that was just a fleeting thought as we had not lived together since I was in high school and we still didn't get along well.

My cute amazing boyfriend (now hubby) said you can move in with me. It seemed like a winner. It was an hour commute to work but, I was looking for another job  near his home. We would both save money and be able to save or at least that was the dream.

This was what it looked like when I moved in.

Moving into his house was fun, he let me paint the room, put up curtains, and paintings. He wouldn't get rid of anything in the kitchen even though my stuff was much nicer just in case. I believe we were already and expecting our daughter before he budged.

I always figured we would sell his house or fix it up and boy was it ever a fixer-upper. As you can see this is what it looked like when I met the husband. I had really not thought I would move in and marry him so quickly and I guess I didn't explain I hate fixing things up...OOPS! The punch list is still being tackled 5 years later not to mention accidents pop up that require attention. We were able to get a new roof, siding and build our deck. The ER repairs were pretty standard all the appliances, floor in one bedroom due to icky carpet when we were expecting as it became the nursery. Purchase of a few pieces of furniture and just when we were almost ready to get new laminate throughout we found that the chimney was leaking under the stone and rotted the flooring under the house. It needed to be remedied asap.

Picture on the Real Property page of how it looked before the current renovation.

We found a contractor and started the process. I would have never in a million thought we would remove our fireplace inside and out.

The Chimney Up Close and Personal our Azaleas are pretty at this angle.

Our chimney is attached front and center with two ridiculously small windows that I believe are meant to be door adjacent. No window coverings ever worked so I spray frosted them. The contractor said they had to go as they were single pane and we were losing energy. He recommended putting in double pane windows across the front. I found a picture of what I envisioned and he was like awesome we can do it!

Pintrest inspiration

I loved the triple window look with framing architectural elements and he was already going to add a peak so that the roof would have more curb appeal and also so you wouldn't immediately see the difference in wear of our 3 year old shingles and the new. It was a whirl wind. The inside looks like a cave.

It was outdated but, I kind of liked the stone. It does need to go for sure with the rot issues. Plus our preschool daughter likes to try and climb in the fireplace by the way we never ever use. Hence the carpet board in front of the fireplace.

Here is the start of the demo Monday day on the outside only.

Stay tuned for updates it should take 4 days with the crew and then hubby and I will paint and I am thinking of removing our textured ceilings before we install laminate. What a one room project.
